All I want is to have some sensible discussion and debate on the issues. To many here make that impossible. You know when I read a comment and the only rebuttal I can come up with is an attack on the poster, well I just tend to leave it alone an move on.Now I won't say that I have never attacked a poster. The most successful nations in the world have had the sense to blend both socialism and capitalism and have taken over as economic leaders, not just China, but places like Singapore, Malaysia and the Scandinavian countries are taking globalism in stride, we should learn from them, since globalism seems here to stay.

I did not take it as criticism at all, I thought I explained, In the words of the late Rick Nelson "You can,t please everyone, but you got to please yourself" and my political posts are genuine examples of what I feel to be correct, if they offended some so be it. Any attempts to speak up on USPolitics in the last several months was squelched by jersey clones---unless of course, you were a jersey clone---then you were allowed to post. The umbrella of acceptability was extended to several others of the chosen few but only if you were not conservative.

Hi Teri. I don't know about Jersey clones but I do know that those members who call others fools, liars, or shills just because they disagree with them and those members who call the President a buffoon, communist, liar, criminal, etc. are likely to be zapped by the MW monitors. I always read your posts and respect your opinions, no one has a legitimate reason to frag them.

I appreciate your support and wondered myself why my posts were being fragged---yet fragged they were---to the tune of 25 in a little over 24 hour's time, one memorable day.
No, I don't think it was the MW monitors.
Out of my almost 89,000 points over 4 or 5 years I have had 138 posts removed---more than half of these in the last 2 months or so. In other words it took over 4 years to lose 69 posts but only 2 months to lose another 69 posts.
So you see, the rate of censorship has excellerated. Many of thes last 69 missing posts addressed the clone problem.
Let's see how long the posts here today last.

They don't squelch people---they squelch attempts to speak up---there's that reading comprehension thing again---and they use the very simple method of repeated RA's that end with the post being eliminated.
The posts of several conservative posters are not allowed to stand more than a few hours at most. before being deleted.
I invite them to speak up here for themselves and let's see.

You are allowed to join in the discussion. You may be addressed by people who don't agree but that is not the SAME as being censored.

There have always been a few regulars here who have a direct pipeline to MW Admin, which they use not only to frag comments but to purge accounts as well.
They are all right wingers and we know who they are. Some of them have lobbied for blocking the IP addresses of those whom they don't approve of. That's been the holy grail of the right wing "moderators/fraggers" since day one.

I have simply made a pledge to myself to not comment, not engage, and not encourage certain posters; such as, fragpolitik, VacuouslyObtuse, and a few others which are most likely the same person. As we witnessed at US Politics, these Say Nothings post one topic after another as fast as they can and push any meaningful topics to the back page or frag any topic or comments that contains facts and knowledge that disprove their opinions.

Carol started this site when there was indeed an urgent requirement for a new group. Many came over from US Politics and for a while we had a good outlet for debate. For myself I had a source of knowledge to tap for my study of your history and a less serious interest in your current political scene.
The history stuff is still as engrossing as ever but the Politics are trashed on this site. Just recently we have seen the modern day version of the Salem Witch trials as a bill has been challenged through the Supreme Court and then the verdict trashed by the right. There appears to be no insult both sides are not prepared to throw in order to demonstrate their hatred and ignorance.

If you look at US history through the same blurred glasses as you view our current struggle you truly do not have an understanding of history especially ours. What is going on in the United States is a fight for the Republic. If we lose our republic we lose all our freedoms and that is not a fight we can afford to lose. So excuse us if we do not play nice, we are at war and everything is at stake.

Here we have a dilemma. If you debate and find a way, in the same manner as the delegates to the Continental Congress, there is hope. Never in your history has there been such a deep divide in policy ideals. Yet they got it done with some timely advice from Ben Franklin.
Now, you have an even greater problem; not the survival of the Republic as you imagine but the survival of world public opinion and confidence in your great country.
Could you imagine Bretton Woods if held tomorrow, would resolve that America be the worlds reserve currency with all the advantages that gave your nation ( perfectly justified at the time()
Now you are fighting over flawed ideologies which have morphed out of the catastrophic governance, by both parties of the finance sector.
Your Republic does not need to fight within itself, it requires all Americans to join the single side and fight for country and nation rather than some ideological mad house we see at present.

King you do have a good perspective on our history, maybe better then B's. We as a country have struggled with issues over our history, formation, states rights, slavery, equality, etc, but each was solved as you mention by the coming together of the moderate minds of both sides. Powerful politicians and leaders that could sway even the fringes of their parties to come up with workable solutions to every problem. Unfortunately today' s America is pretty much void of the Franklin, Jefferson types as we have allowed money and lobbyists to steal our government from the people. Both sides have been involved in this theft, I exclude no one. But yes my friend you do get it.

My thanks and I agree with you in part. However, you err in suggesting we do not have the right to debate. Sadly the political debate here is almost as vitriolic as it is in America. I think we have aped your major parties and our standards have been lowered as a result.
I submit debate is all well and good but when it pulls a nation apart as it engenders hatred among its citizens then there is something seriously wrong...
To respond to your question, look to history and the response of the American people when Japan attacked Pear Harbour. Until that time America was deeply divided as to your possible participation, afterwards most everyone "joined the single side"

Politics is just too varied, and interesting, when the bullies are left to themselves. Constructive dialog can take place when personal attacks and insults, which lead to self-destruction, are taken out of the equation.
