I had to think about that one for a minute and I will have to say that you are probably very right......

Up to the point that gays took their private choices and activities and decided the up end about 4000 years of societal tradition of uniting one man/one woman couples (otherwise known as the basis for a family unit) by again attempting to force societal change with law. One just has to wonder why, if gays have been a percentage of society all along, how come society rejected their personal choice as part of the main stream. I bear no malice towards a gay person doing what they do in private any more than anyone should have a problem with me walking around my house in the buff.... its when I take it out on the streets that things get ugly.... less

@TheScott

So how old were you when you made that "personal choice" to be straight? Was it a tough choice? How long were you sitting on the fence, "Hmmm, do I want the kilbasi or the tacos?"

Was it really a choice?

TheScott 2 days ago

pfunky - No more of a choice than if you choose to shoplift or not..... Most things become a conscious decision when your thoughts and desires run contrary to accepted social norms. If you never have the desire to steal something from a store, you never think about being a thief. Not the greatest example but you get my point. Probably the first time I was presented with the choice was when I was in my late teens....that is when I started understanding that it, like most sexual deviations, are a choice. Once you make a choice in that regard... you and only you decide where it will lead. I once met a girl who had an anorexia disorder and though her counselling she admitted that she could only 'make love' to her dog. The whys and wherefore's I never knew but I am sure that however contrived, choice was their somewhere.... less

I can't prove your theory -- but my own anctedotal experience informs me of the same/similar.

My two siblings with doctorates (maybe just coincidence) are left handed. While the rest of us (non PHD) are righties.

My mother told me that in old-time Ireland -- that it was considered very Protestant (anti-Catholic) to be wholly reliant on one's right hand. The Irish also would supposedly attempt to favor their left legs as well when digging holes, farming, etc..

An Irish spade/shovel were actually designed/made differently than Brit spades.

It was considered 'higher learning' or to be further refined (as a 'Catholic') if one was left handed/left footed. It was a statement.
... />Of course my Galway mother is both so as to confuse the matter -- although she favors the left considerably.

In fact as a response to this Catholic nonsense/rebellion to the 'traditional', right-handed ways of the Brits. The Brits would call those that are left-handed/footed as "Kerry" or "Left-Kelly".

As of 2012, five out of the last seven presidents have been left-handed.

According to Daniel Geschwind, a professor of human genetics at UCLA, in 2008: "Six out of the past 12 presidents (being Left handed) is statistically significant, and probably means something".

Amar Klar, a scientist who has worked on handedness, says that left-handed people "have a wider scope of thinking", and points to the disproportionately high number of Nobel Prize winners, writers and painters who are left-handed.

TheScott,

It depends on which Holy Book you read.

Other Religions subscribed to the Divine Right of Kings. When Church and State develop a symbiotic relationship, each supports the other to the detriment of the People.

The contents of the Christian Bible was a collaboration between Church and State, and as such should be viewed with skepticism. To disagree with The Powers That Be of that time carried the death penalty, and it went on for centuries.

I think that the vast majority of psychopaths are merely social deviants at best given that the definition of a psychopath is characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for the feelings of others and often the rules of society..... but who said they were criminally insane? I just said that god created them and god will sort them out.... as a society however we have the right as a unit to marginalise any behaviours that we do not think fits with our social or cultural mores.... Gays, like psychopaths and any other aberration of a society have the right to privacy and to live in peace as long as they harm no one else......they just don't have the right to forced acceptance by the state.

Flunked - Your point is that because this monkey species in which females are dominate and use sex as a method of male control, 'causing' males to sex anything that moves as a de-stressing mechanism, should lead us to mainsteam the gay lifestyle and codify it as a 'natural' equal to that of one man one woman relationships? Nothing indicates a genetic disposition to the activity, as a matter of fact, to the contrary, it appears to be a learned behavior due to the social structure. Of the few societies that have elevated the same sex relationship to any social prominence, 1) none persisted and 2)some also allowed for the mentoring of 'young' boys by young men (teens to early 30's). Should we follow that historical view and entertain the beliefs of NAMBLA as well? I do have a problem with the implications to our social order if we use your link as guidance. Perhaps this is why the radical side of the feminist movement, early on, aligned itself with the gay movement, encouraging gay men to 'come out'. Perhaps they too studied the social structure of the Pygmy Chimpanzee as a model for their idea of a future social order....

I find it interesting bantering issues with liberals. They are indeed a funny lot. One time you can argue a point and you are called a social Darwinist and in the next moment, they bring up the fact that we should emulate the behaviors of a primate society. I think it stems from the fact that Democrats are a loosely connected group of 'I wants' and the alliance garners voting power for all... Rojo's comments below only point out one, what appears to be naturally occurring example... and from a little follow on reading might be a chemical imbalance before birth..... in all other cases in society we call it an imbalance and prescribe drugs for the 'condition'... less

Homosexual behavior in animals refers to the documented evidence of homosexual and bisexual behavior in various (non-human) species. Such behaviors include sex, courtship, affection, pair bonding, and parenting among same sex animals. A 1999 review by researcher Bruce Bagemihl shows that homosexual behavior has been observed in close to 1,500 species, ranging from primates to gut worms, and is well documented for 500 of them.[1][2] Animal sexual behavior takes many different forms, even within the same species. The motivations for and implications of these behaviors have yet to be fully understood, since most species have yet to be fully studied.[3]

According to Bagemihl, "the animal kingdom [does] it with much greater sexual diversity – including homosexual, bisexual and nonreproductive sex – than the scientific community and society at large have previously been willing to accept."[4] Current research indicates that various forms of same-sex sexual behavior are found throughout the animal kingdom.[5] A new review made in 2009 of existing research showed that same-sex behavior is a nearly universal phenomenon in the animal kingdom, common across species.[6] Homosexual behavior is best known from social species.

According to geneticist Simon Levay in 1996, "Although homosexual behavior is very common in the animal world, it seems to be very uncommon that individual animals have a long-lasting predisposition to engage in such behavior to the exclusion of heterosexual activities. Thus, a homosexual orientation, if one can speak of such thing in animals, seems to be a rarity.[7] One species in which exclusive homosexual orientation occurs, however, is that of domesticated sheep (Ovis aries).[8][9] "About 10% of rams (males) refuse to mate with ewes (females) but do readily mate with other rams."[9] [ Wiki]

SEX and LOVE are not the same.

Most animals, I am pretty sure -- but who can be certain, are not 'expressing' or "experiencing' LOVING 'feelings' either before, during or after the act(ivity) of sex.

Men/Woman have the ability to lust and love -- and also have the ability (due to their advanced logic/development) to (at times) experience both at the very same time. Animals, as far as we can tell -- may have homosexual tendancies/interactions but they do not seemingly participate in the FEELINGS for one another in this regard.

The point being is that HOMOSEXUALITY (the sexual orientation) in and of itself is natural and occurs all throughtout the animal kingdom -- whereas LOVE (the expression of joy, bliss, fullfillment, gratitude and contentment) with another being is quite an entirely different thing. less

What Makes People Gay?

By Neil Swidey
August 14, 2005

Patrick exhibits behavior called childhood gender nonconformity, or CGN. This doesn't describe a boy who has a doll somewhere in his toy collection or tried on his sister's Snow White outfit once, but rather one who consistently exhibits a host of strongly feminine traits and interests while avoiding boy-typical behavior like rough-and-tumble play. There's been considerable research into this phenomenon, particularly in males, including a study that followed boys from an early age into early adulthood. The data suggest there is a very good chance Patrick will grow up to be homosexual. Not all homosexual men show this extremely feminine behavior as young boys. But the research indicates that, of the boys who do exhibit CGN, about 75 percent of them - perhaps more - turn out to be gay or bisexual.

Read this article (above from 2005) -- it is 11 pages long. Unfortunately it usually takes far more than a 30 second sound bite from Fox/CNN/The View -- to research/educate oneself about any given issue/topic.

How would you know? You create a topic using the term "God" and as most of the left you do not believe in "him" Your topic is just another talking point designed to continue the agenda. A godless society can be ruled by "men" that is your single goal. If the left takes "god" out of the equation they rule forever. That is all the left cares about, one party rule, every calculated step is for that goal. All the "entitlements" were spawned from the left. Granted they seemed like a good thing for the general population, but look at Europe, the entitlements are the same there and several countries are about to go belly up and the summer of riots will not be pretty. As Europe goes, so do we, no one buys US made goods and services if they have no money. less

THOMAS JEFFERSON.

"The rights of conscience we never submitted, we could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others.

But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. ... Reason and free enquiry are the only effectual agents against error.

LOL if "God" or a Creator exists then a "Godless" society is an impossibility. no matter what the Creators Creations believe. If "God" really wanted its creations to know with certainty that the Creator did indeed exist, it would have made that experience as plain as the nose on our face, to all, so there would be no doubt.... obviously that is not part of the plan, assuming there is one......What is obviously the plan is for us to have to reach a point in our lives where we feel the need search out, find and establish our own direct connection with that "Creator". That usually goes through different stages, one being a deep belief in some dogmatic script, involving a Santa/Zeus patriarch sky "God". Then into an agnostic of even atheist belief, then finally into a more spiritual/scientific mode where we require direct experience in the proof of some sort of eternal energetic intelligence, that supersedes these temporary physical individual expressions that we are all a part of. less

God created man in his image and gave man free will. God no more created homosexuality than rape, and genocide for that was man's doing with the help of the fallen angel. By your logic, God should love the devil as Lucifer, using his free will, went to war with God. Lucifer will lose in the end as will you and all who follow your logic.

Read about the Battle of Jericho. Killing everyone in the city wasn't genocide?

Flunked, I cannot wait for the day when it is definitively proven that the gay lifestyle is a hormonal, emotional, physical affliction not a choice that one consciously made. We will need alot of crow. i'll go set the traps.

The Religious Right hates gays, but loves war and guns. Go figure.
