There's nothing better than data, right? I like this part..
"The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent in April, the same increase as in March"
So every month we pay 0.2% more, is that good?

The economic experts tend to ignore the recession in Europe causing further slowdown in China.
Ignore the real inflation caused by the Federal Reserve.
The lack of employment in the US.
Not to mention the 800 lb. gorilla debt of 15.7 trillion dollars.
We are luck it's only idle.

Considering the rest of the world is going down the tubes, you have to give the Obama admin and Bernanke credit for getting our business going again. Most companies are doing well even though the rest of the world is in pain.

How,
You can give Bernanke credit for boosting the market via QE1, QE2, Operation Twist and soon to come QE3,
Obama gets credit for killing jobs and wasting money, 5.7 trillion to date. Her gets credit for delaying the job recovery. The EPA regulations regarding coal will idle thousands. His delayed decision on the Keystone pipeline another debacle. He will nix the deal after the election if he is re elected. Then the joke will be on us.
O is no friend to the middle income American as he continues his war on American dividing the country.

No, it's not. What is not right is that food and energy are not included. The two things that every American must have are not included in the index. Worse yet, I think most of us will admit that both of those items have increased way more than 0.2%, and if they were included we would get a much better picture instead of this rose-colored glasses stuff.

Most BLS data is based on limited surveys with huge seasonal and inflation adjustments in plain talk, BLS data while widely quoted in the media are bogus junk numbers and subject to huge revisions and adjustments. Real time real world spending data could be purchased from visa and mastercard. Real time employment and income data is available but unused by the BLS seasonal adjustments are uneeded just compare to the same month from the prior year. As it was once said torture statistics long enough and they will confess to anything...

Much like the unemployment data. Just another survey of 60,000 random households, 110,000 people.

Welcome Rob, hope you'll stay around as we need new blood here.
Yea, I don't attend much to BLS figures anymore, GIGO so to speak. I forget which of the weakly (intended) numbers they proffer that is a phone survey.
Knowing how reliable that can be for accurate information I place much stock in those. :)

yes I think the BLS is about creating cushy government jobs for economists and is subject to influence by the white house of whichever party is in power. Charles Biderman at trimtabs finacial research has been outspoken about the flaws in BLS data and IMHO he is correct.

The reason I use the BLS junk is so that the left here can't push back. By putting up this junk only one leftie stuck its neck out and what a joke...

This is the MSM in spades the lies the spin clinging to Obama the savior has the Titanic slowly slips beneath the waves thanks to his lack of guidence....

BLS data is 100% BS.... get your data elsewhere to make your financial decisions the error rate at 95% confidence levels is plus or minus 100,000 jobs if that is not junk info I am not sure what is...

It has always been manipulated but probably not to the extent of the past two years. They kept the old formula until it turned badly on them then changed the formula in the middle of a Saturday night. The current version does not include those who stop looking or no longer can qualify for unemployment benefits and the underemployed.
Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, R-Calif., stated in The Washington Times, “The official unemployment rate treats this subset of Americans, totaling as many as 88 million people, as if they just vanished . . . call it what it is, an accounting gimmick.” The real unemployment rate is an eye-opening 22.3%, according to John Williams with Shadow Government Statistics . . . nearly triple the “official ... unemployment rate.” less

I read today that the unemployment rate in California is getting better by cutting jobs, something about the new math that I don't understand.
California unemployment rate dips to 10.9%; state loses 4,200 jobs
